Yercaud Hills Ultra (YHU), now in its 7th edition, is a hill ultramarathon organized by the non-profit Salem Runners Club. Held annually in the scenic Servarayan Hills of Yercaud, it offers distances from 13 km to 64 km for all levels of runners. With lush coffee plantations, spice-scented trails, bamboo groves, waterfalls, and vibrant birdlife, YHU is more than a race—it’s a journey into nature’s embrace .

Driven by a passion for community and fitness, the Salem Runners Club runs YHU “By the Runners! For the Runners!”, with zero prize money, trophies, or group discounts—pure hill love laid bare for 2025.

QUALIFICATION CRITERIA

13 kms - 16+ years

  • None; walk/run up to 10 km in 1h 45m
  • 21.1 kms - 18+ years

  • Must have completed a half-marathon within 3h.
  • 32 kms (20 miles) - 18+ years

  • Must have completed a full marathon within 5h 30m or any ultra after Oct 2024.
  • 50 kms (30 miles + 2KM) - 18+ years

  • Must have completed a 50 km ultra in the past 24 months
  • 64kms (40 miles) - 18+ years

  • Must have completed a 50 km ultra or full marathon in 5h within past 12 months
  • How to Submit Qualification Proof?

    Qualification proof must be uploaded during the registration process. No postregistration uploads allowed.

    Confirmation

    We manually verify each and every proof of qualification. Your entry will be confirmed after we have completed this process and you will receive a separate email confirming your registration. This process can take several days and we request your patience!

    Note: We realize that there are scores of events and many different combinations that could qualify you. We cannot list all of these options here or on the registration form. Feel free to reach out to us via email in advance for any clarifications. From our perspective, we are simply seeking to know whether a participant is sufficiently trained to endure our event. Our Core Team decision is final and we request prospective participants to respect our qualification requirement for your own safety.

    When and where is the race?

    Date: 2nd November 2025

    Location: Yercaud Hills, Tamil Nadu

    Is this a trail race?
    No. It’s a road and hill run along scenic mountain roads.

    Is this race beginner-friendly?
    13K and 21K are suitable for beginners with basic fitness and hill training.

    Are pacers allowed?
    No personal pacers or outside support allowed.

    Can I change my category later?
    Yes. Changes allowed before 15th October 2025 (no refunds for downgrades).

    What’s included in the registration fee?
    Bib, hydration support, on-route nutrition, medical aid, finisher medal (for within cutoff), and T-shirt.

    Is there a bag drop facility?
    Yes, secure bag drop available at the start point.

    Is there any reward for winners?
    No. YHU is a reward-free run focusing on personal achievement and connection with nature.

    What’s the cut-off time?
    Cut-offs vary by category and will be announced at the pre-race briefing.

    Is accommodation provided?
    No, but Yercaud has plenty of hotels, homestays, and resorts. We’ll share stay recommendations closer to race day.

    What should I carry during the run?
  • Hydration bottle/vest
  • Energy gels or snacks
  • Mobile phone (some zones may have weak signal)
  • Basic first-aid (for longer categories)

    Will there be aid stations?
    Yes. Aid stations with water, electrolytes, and snacks will be available at regular intervals.

    RULES &
    REGULATIONS

    1.All participants must be medically fit and well-trained for their chosen category.

    2. Bib and gear pick-up on the previous day is mandatory.

    3. Finishers must complete the course within the cut-off to receive a medal.

    4. No shortcuts or unauthorized assistance allowed.

    5. Organizers reserve the right to stop participants on medical or safety grounds.

    6. Respect the hills. No littering. Violators will be disqualified.

    7. Participants must follow instructions from volunteers, marshals, and medical crew.

    8. No protests regarding cut-offs or results will be entertained.

    TERMS &
    CONDITIONS

    1. All registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable.

    2. Proof of eligibility must be uploaded during registration. Entries without valid proof may be cancelled.

    3. Runners must carry personal ID and health details on race day.

    4. Organizers are not responsible for lost items, medical issues, or travel delays.

    5. The event may be altered/cancelled due to unforeseen weather, political or natural events (Force Majeure). No refunds will be provided.

    6. By registering, you consent to the use of your race images for promotional purposes.

    7. The event is conducted as a non-competitive, self-challenging experience.

    8. All participants agree to abide by the rules, regulations, and code of conduct laid out by the organizing team.
